Jamie Short, a New York artist was born and raised in the small town of Milford Delaware. Growing up being an artist was all he wanted to be. Watching his older brothers draw, gave him the inspiration to continue doing art in his youth. Being a very shy kid, art became a way of communication without speaking words. However, like any young teenager he began to wonder if art was the correct path in life. After graduating high school, his art took a back seat as he was torn with working with his father's business. At the time, his parents did not show any interest in him going to an art school. For the first five years out of school, Jamie worked many odd jobs. Nothing satisfied him, but the desire to pursue art grew bigger. In 2002, he came across an ad, online about an art school in the state of Delaware called Delaware College of Art and Design. DCAD had only been around a few years but the thought of going to an art school weighted heavy on his mind. After convincing his parents for help, he enrolled for the fall classes in 2002. In 2004 after two art inspiring years, he graduated with an Associates Degree in Illustration winning the first ever Darly Award. He continued his education at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York and graduated in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in Communication Design.
Today he resides in Brooklyn, working full time as a commercial photographer. He uses his illustration background to guide him in creating clean crisp photos for e-commerce websites. His photos can be seen on various websites such as Groupon, Amazon, Newegg, No More Rack, Living Social and many others.
